Backpack Pals

Backpack Pals is a church-wide ministry ready to serve the children in our local elementary school. This program is designed to fight childhood hunger and meet the needs of food-insecure children who have little or nothing to eat for the entire weekend.

In conjunction with the Christian Help Center and Backpack Pals of Person County, Concord Church has adopted Woodland Elementary School in this mission. Each week church volunteers provide bags with non-perishable, easy to fix food items for these children. Every pack contains the equivalent of two nutritional breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks for participating students throughout the school year. Our goal is to provide these kids with the reassurance that they won’t go hungry over the weekend and that someone cares.

Alleviating hunger over the weekend prepares students for the school week ahead, with data having shown positive impact on a student’s behavior, attendance, and academic achievement! Your support of this event makes it possible for Concord to provide weekend meals to these food-insecure children at Woodland Elementary. Thanks to each and every member of Team Concord for your continued support in making this ministry possible.
